A Hydraulic Power Pack (also known as a Hydraulic Power Unit or HPU) is the heart of any fluid power system. It converts mechanical energy from an electric motor or engine into controlled hydraulic fluid pressure and flow to drive cylinders, hydraulic motors, and presses.

Core Components of a Hydraulic Power Pack

1. Hydraulic Reservoir (Oil Tank)

The reservoir holds the hydraulic fluid, dissipates heat generated during operation, allows trapped air bubbles to escape, and settles heavy contaminants.

2. Hydraulic Pump

Driven by an electric motor, the hydraulic pump draws oil from the tank and forces it into the system at high pressure. Gear pumps are used for medium pressure, vane pumps for quiet low noise, and axial piston pumps for high-pressure applications (up to 350+ bar).

3. Hydraulic Manifold Block & Control Valves

The manifold block acts as the central traffic controller for fluid power. Solenoid directional control valves direct oil flow to extend or retract cylinders, while pressure relief valves prevent dangerous over-pressurization.

4. Filtration & Oil Cooling

Return-line filters trap microscopic particles, while air/water oil coolers maintain oil viscosity within optimal operating temperature limits (40°C - 55°C).
